Micaela Hawkins TS #9

Date: October 17th
Student: Henry
Topic/Skill: Math
While Henry is pretty sufficient in reading and in writing although he has trouble finding the right words to use, I found that he does not perform well in math. He can easily add, multiply, subtract when the problem is just using numbers, but when he has word problems he cannot understand what they are talking about. I think the wording of the math problems is very high level for a third grader in general. And when faced with word problems he could not comprehend what he needed to do. We worked on going through the word problems and finding the numbers that he needed to use and I had him make a separate equation only using the numbers. This practice helped him a lot and I could immediately see results.
