Date: Oct. 11
Location: Sabal Palm Elementary
Topic/Skill: Reading + Writing
Student: Daniel Kilozo
For today's session with Daniel, I began by meeting him in the library where his class was doing an assignment where they read a picture book, and answered some simple comprehension questions about the setting, the problem and solution of the story, and how they felt about the book. Sat down with him and helped him read the story, then helped him write out the answers to the questions, which he clearly struggled with. I had to essentially show him each letter to write, then have him write it, letter by letter. Once he had the word written, I would have him read it aloud, and then move onto writing the next word. Once he had his whole answer written, I would have him read the whole answer aloud. From here, his class moved back to their classroom to take a test, and I was tasked with dictating the test to Daniel and helping him understand the questions. This took some struggling, and it's quite hard to get Daniel to talk, but ultimately we got through the test.
