Topic/Skill: Second Conditional
Feedback provided to tutee: Not only doing the work on paper but, actually using and recognizing the second conditional when speaking. So far he has grasped every concept we have gone over. At the end of the tutoring session, I ask him to create a couple of sentences on his own to evaluate his understanding.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: This session we went over second conditional. I started off by showing him a video that gave the meaning and a few examples. I then went on and stated the meaning again but this time Keeping It Short and Sweet (K.I.S.S). I wrote personal notes that he can take home and review if he gets stuck. We practiced on worksheets that I printed out for him. I learned that showing videos grasp their attention more and sometimes explains concepts better than I can.
