Victoria Jones CO #1
Classroom Observation: Ryan Flemming
Date: September 22, 2017
(stayed for both sessions on Friday)
Grammar 3B
Presentation: Ryan showed the
class the plan for the day so that there were no surprises and the class knew
what to expect before and after the halfway point class break. I enjoyed his
warm up activity where the students worked in pairs to correct each other’s
sentences from a previous class. The correct answers were discussed as a whole
and the students took photos of the corrections to study for an upcoming quiz.
Classroom Management: Ryan
was vigilant in using a timer on the computer to keep small group and large
group discussion on time.
Materials: Ryan used handouts,
their binders, white board, document projected from the computer.
Student Participation: This class was definitely
student and classroom centered. The students were participating without being
nagged or asked to.
Feedback Provided: I liked how one of the
activities involved a competition for students to accrue points and have an
incentive to stay involved.
Lessons on Teaching: “Let’s
look at some sentences I didn’t understand” + the concept of beautiful mistakes
to correct students in the proper verbiage.
