Topic/Skill: Correcting Grammar mistakes
Feedback provided to tutee: I helped students figure out what was wrong with sentences they had said and possible ways to make the sentences better.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: Students want quick and simple answers. Making them correct these mistakes is good practice, because without it they might do nothing. But just because they are given the mistakes to correct does not mean they will spend a great deal of time on it. I had dedicated this entire hour to helping these students, but they came to me promising they just had quick questions, and they clearly wanted quick answers. It was difficult to fight back and take the time to make sure the student tried to find the answer on their own first, and then really understood the correction, instead of just writing it down.
