Topic/Skill: Speaking
Teacher Presentation: The teacher, Andrew Wilson, had a fun filled day planned for the students, since it was a twi hour long class. He started the class of by giving the students a WOTD (Word of the Day). He called upon students to try and guess the meaning of the word. He then presented the students with an American board game called Taboo. The class was divided into two teams and the words were presented by student volunteers. It was nice seeing the students get involved and excited to play. They were getting very competitive and saying funny side remarks to their opponents. After they completed a few rounds of the game. The class moved on to the next activity which was small group discussions. The students needed to choose a topic that they felt comfortable talking about and hopefully had some background knowledge on. After choosing their topics, we moved to the computer lab where they were a lotted 20 minutes to do research on their topic to prepare for their discussion. It was interesting seeing the different cultures interact and discuss their opinions on the varies topics.
Classroom Management: The teacher used an Agenda written on the board to help guide the class. He also had every activity timed out.
Materials: White board, computer, board game, worksheet, makers. projector, computer lab
Student Participation: The students would not stop talking. They were all very comfortable.
Feedback Provided: I truly admire Andrew Wilson and his teaching skill. He is very confident and funny, a perfect combination for capturing his student's attention.
Lesson(s) on teaching you learned: Give wiggle room for each activity because some times they run longer thnn expected.
