Feedback given to the Tutee : This was my first time meeting my tutee, Talal, and I think it went very well. I met him in Strozier library and we went right to work. I gave a definition of each term he needed help with and I broke it down very basically for him because he was in Group 1 Grammar. I prepared written examples that I asked him to participate in. These examples could be considered receptive quizzes because I made them multiple choice and matching. Talal is very bright and he seemed to know what everything was. I was not sure if my examples were just too easy for him or he was just really prepared for his exam the next day. Talal expressed that he needed help understanding the simple past tense irregular vocabulary words. This would consist of buy = bought , sell = sold, and run = ran. Talal did not bring his vocabulary list with him to our session and I advised him to study those before his exam. Other than him not bringing his vocabulary list, our session went very well.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned : I learned that by bringing your own personal definitions of grammatical terms and with your own grammatical lessons/examples, it can mean a lot to the tutee. He was very easily able to comprehend the examples and I think there is value in making your own personable definitions.
